Today, our Serious Sanitation family is mourning the loss of one of our own.
Andrew "Andy" Jensen wasn't just a longtime employee; he was family. For many years, he was a familiar face throughout our communities, whether he was behind the wheel of a garbage truck or pulling the roll-off trailer. He took tremendous pride in his work, and anyone who knew Andy knew he never met a stranger.
He also had a knack for making people smile. In true Andy fashion, we want to share Andy's lyrics to "The Garbageman" (to the tune of George Strait's "The Fireman":
"They call me the garbage man
That's who I am
Drivin' all around town
Dumpin' those garbage cans
Nobody wants to have the job I've got
Cuz' it's cold as hell or smolderin' hot
But I'm the garbageman
That's what I am
Well I don't have a shiny red T-bird automobile
But the garbage truck is clean, and it has aluminum wheels
We start at 6 and are done by 1
Then it's back to the shop to get the other stuff done
I'm the garbage man
That's what I am"
Andy leaves behind friendships on the route, memories from the windshield, laughter in the shop, and a legacy that will forever be part of Serious Sanitation and beyond. His tire tracks may fade from the roads he traveled, but the impact he made on our company, our family, and our community never will.
From all of us at Serious Sanitation, and especially from our family, thank you for the love you've shown us all during this difficult time.
