A bug crawls across your living room floor — what’s the last thing you’re saying before you send him to the great beyond?

Facebook pest control advice never disappoints.

Saw a post today claiming this was “the best thing you can buy for termites” from Dollar General/Walmart because it “kills on contact.”

Here’s the thing:
Almost anything kills termites on contact.

So does:
• a shoe
• soapy water
• brake cleaner
• a hammer
• your cousin with a torch (please don’t)

That doesn’t make it a termite treatment.

Real termite control is about:
• eliminating or controlling the colony
• treating hidden activity behind walls/slabs
• long-term protection
• proper trenching/drilling/baiting
• stopping damage you can’t see

If a $7 spray labeled for “ants, roaches, and flies” actually solved structural termite problems, our industry wouldn’t exist.

Be careful taking pest control advice from random Facebook posts. A lot of products can kill a few visible bugs. That’s VERY different from solving the actual infestation.

And for the record:
“Kills on contact” is not the same thing as “solves your issue.”
