Good Morning Dover!
My re-election campaign for Mayor of the City of Dover is well underway. While still fulfilling my duties as Mayor, I have had many interactions with citizens, business owners and fellow Doverites who have shared their thoughts about the current state of our city and their hopes for the future of Dover. In these conversations the same common goal is at the forefront for all, to see the City of Dover progress and prosper. We all want our city to be a great, safe place to raise our children and our children raise their children.
Many have asked why I am running for re-election. I am running for re-election to renew my efforts as a public servant to continue to do my best to make our city a safe place to live, learn, work and play. As the chief officer of economic development for the city, I would like to continue attracting more businesses, large and small, and to protect our existing industries. I would like to continue working with the men and women of the best police department to help keep our city safe each day. I would like to continue to work with our local school districts and colleges to strengthen our future work force. I would like to continue partnering with Habitat for Humanity, NeighborGood Partners (NCALL) and so many others to bring affordable housing not just to Downtown Dover, but throughout our city. I would like to continue to collaborate with members of city council to reform our city government for the future as we are no longer a small town, but our form of government is.
I acknowledge our city has had our fair share of bumps in the road, but we also have had many accomplishments as the Capital of the First State that we should be proud of.
As I have always said, and will continue to say, Doverβs best days are still ahead of us, and I continue to believe in the city that I love and the place I have called my home for 52 years.
More to come from my campaign as I will discuss important issues facing our city such as crime, economic development including jobs, affordable housing and more.
