Found a black widow spider today at a new customer’s home near Alto Pass 😳🕷️

A lot of people don’t realize it, but black widows are very much a thing here in Southern Illinois. They like dark, undisturbed areas like woodpiles, sheds, basements, and crawlspaces — and yes, their venom can be dangerous, especially to kids, pets, and the elderly.

If you see one, don’t try to handle it yourself. These spiders are reclusive but pack a punch when threatened.

Stay safe and keep an eye out — if you’re not sure what’s lurking around your home, that’s where we come in.
