Dodge City has been named one of the Best Christmas Towns in the Midwest by This Worthey Life, a popular family lifestyle blog that inspires readers to embrace life’s adventures in food, travel, entertainment, and teen parenting. The article spotlights Dodge City’s unique blend of historical charm and festive holiday activities—such as concerts, vibrant light displays, and Santa appearances—as reasons for travelers to choose Dodge City as a holiday destination this season.
“We are honored that This Worthey Life named Dodge City one of the Midwest’s Best Christmas Towns,” said Megan Welsh, director of the Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau. “From our historic landmarks decked out in lights to family-friendly festivities, Dodge City captures the magic of the season. We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience Christmas in our unique and vibrant community.”
The Christmas season kicks off on Monday, Dec. 2, at 4:30 p.m. with the 25th Annual Parade of Lights and Chili Cook-Off. Along with the parade and chili tasting, attendees can enjoy free hot dogs from Long Branch Lagoon Waterpark, photos with Santa, the Building Solutions Snowball Drop, hot chocolate from the Salvation Army, live music, prize giveaways, and the mayor’s tree-lighting ceremony.
But that’s just the beginning of the holiday fun in Dodge City. Enjoy country music sensation Sara Evans live in concert, breakfast with Santa at the Boot Hill Museum; carriage rides, and appearances from Santa Claus at Red Beard Coffee’s Winter Extravaganza; the comedy On the Farce Day of Christmas at the Depot Theater—plus much more.
