Meet Cindy, co-owner of SHINE and the heart behind so much of how we work. 💛

Cindy has spent over 17 years in the cleaning industry, and it shows in everything she touches. With an MBA from the University of Northern Iowa and a background as a professional organizer, she brings a structure and care to our work that turns a clean home into one that genuinely feels better to live in.

But Cindy is so much more than her résumé. Married since 1992 and a proud mom of three grown kids, she knows firsthand how tricky the balance between work and family can be. That's a big part of why she cares so deeply about supporting young mothers and helping them build stability for their families, both financially and emotionally. It's woven into who she is and how she leads.

When she isn't running SHINE, you might find her teaching a fitness class at the YMCA (she's been at it for 20 years!), cycling a scenic route, catching a show at the theater, or exploring somewhere new. That love of a full, healthy, well-lived life is exactly what she brings to this company every day.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is sit down and listen. ❤️

This week, Caryn and Cindy attended a Women of Welcome event in Ankeny that offered a powerful reminder of how much we can learn from one another.

A guest speaker shared their experience coming to the United States as a refugee, opening a window into the trauma, uncertainty, and challenges that can come with leaving home and beginning again somewhere unfamiliar.

And of course, we can't forget the food! The afternoon included a delicious taste of Burma, which felt like a little piece of home for SHINE, considering many of our employees are immigrants from Burma.

We're grateful to Women of Welcome for an afternoon that encouraged empathy, understanding, and a deeper appreciation for the people who make up our community.
