A professional house wash is measured not only by what gets cleaned, but by what gets protected.

Some of the lowest quotes come from “splash-and-dash” companies focused on spraying the house and moving quickly to the next job. Before choosing a contractor based solely on price, verify that the business is properly registered, carries appropriate insurance and can explain how your property will be protected.

Most established plants can be protected by thoroughly rinsing them before, during and after a soft wash. Sensitive plants growing against the house require a higher level of care.

The hydrangea shown here was growing directly against siding that needed to be cleaned. After thoroughly hydrating the plant, we gently gathered the branches and blooms inward without crushing or breaking them. We then worked Tyvek between the hydrangea and the house and carefully fitted it around the entire plant, shielding the foliage and blooms while keeping the siding accessible.

We don’t simply throw plastic over plants.

Clear plastic can trap solar heat and quickly overheat the vegetation underneath. White Tyvek reflects most sunlight and allows moisture v***r to pass through more readily than plastic. Even so, we monitor the plant throughout the cleaning process and remove the covering promptly after the surrounding area has been cleaned and rinsed.

The result: clean siding and a healthy hydrangea.

On May 18, I had the opportunity to speak at the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners meeting about the Stage 2 water restrictions.

This wasn’t just about me or my business. It was about standing up for the local businesses that depend on water to make a living, serve their customers, and provide for their families.

Last week, I spoke with Lincoln County Public Utilities, and my understanding is they are working on updating the language in the Stage 2 restrictions to make it more fair for local businesses while still protecting our water supply.

Going forward, window cleaning and roof cleaning may be rescheduled due to rain.

However, if you are scheduled for a house wash, pressure washing, or gutter cleaning, we will still be coming as scheduled. Rain does not prevent us from safely or effectively providing these services, and we cannot allow rain alone to continue disrupting the schedule.
