Good article by Premier Tech, explaining why I am not comfortable with ATUs. I think they have a lot of proving to do, and I have seen first hand some of the items mentioned in this article, particular the reference to suspended solids.

The problem with ATUs — besides their need for electricity — is that they have no physical barrier to filter wastewater. The effluent they discharge contains suspended solids, and over time, those particles will clog the system’s drain field.

This job was originally going to be designed for another type of system. The homeowner did his homework and found another excavator who redesigned for an Ecoflo. They cut the bank back, used boulders from the property to build a retaining wall, and used the fill for the at-grade drain field bed. Saved the homeowner several $1,000 versus the competition. Great looking job by David P Kristman Excavating.

Nice little 12'x50' at-grade bed with an Ecoflo Pack unit installed after the existing 1,000 gallon treatment tank. No trees needed to be taken down. Fit perfectly.
