🎨☀️ Having your home painted? Make sure the solar panels are protected before the work begins.
Accidents happen, and solar panels can be an easy detail to overlook when preparing a home for painting. If they aren’t properly protected, paint overspray can affect panels in the surrounding area.
Removing dried paint from solar panels is not the same as performing a routine cleaning. Aggressive scraping, abrasive tools or improper chemicals could scratch the glass or damage the panel’s anti-reflective coating. The safest outcome is always prevention—but when overspray has already occurred, the removal process should be approached carefully.
A&R Solar Cleaning has experience evaluating and removing paint overspray from residential solar panels using methods selected for the specific paint, level of contamination and condition of the panels.
If you’re planning to have your home painted:
✅ Make sure the entire solar array is properly covered
✅ Confirm that the covering is securely attached
✅ Inspect the panels upon completion of the job
✅ Avoid experimenting with blades, solvents or abrasive scrubbers if overspray is found
Not every case is identical, and complete removal depends on the paint type, how long it has been on the panels and the condition of the glass and coating. If your panels have been affected, we’d be happy to evaluate them.
