I’m out!

Welcome to Florida… where even the Sunshine State occasionally forgets its own branding. 🥶🌴

Palm trees wrapped in frost, seabirds questioning their life choices, and a road that looks more “winter warning” than “beach drive.”

This is one of those rare Florida moments that feels almost unreal: when the air bites, the wind cuts through your hoodie, and everyone collectively asks, “Is this allowed?”

The birds are bundled up, the palms are confused, and the sunshine seems to have taken the day off.

It’s the kind of cold that makes Floridians panic just a little, dig out the one jacket they own, and immediately start checking the forecast for when things go back to normal.

Moments like this are rare, fleeting, and strangely beautiful. Florida doesn’t do winter often, but when it does, it turns heads—and makes for scenes you’d swear were photoshopped.

Don’t worry though… this state always finds its way back to warm breezes and beach days.

Until then, welcome to Florida’s version of winter.

Boston is comfortable

Boston is comfortable

This is the exact look of betrayal. 🐦🥶

That bird didn’t migrate south for cold wind, sideways flurries, and palm trees bending like they’re in a survival drill.

It came for sunshine, warm breezes, and the kind of weather Florida is famous for, not whatever this weekend decided to be.

Feathers puffed up, eyes narrowed, perched there questioning every life choice. You can practically hear it thinking, “I could’ve stayed up north for this.” Florida has officially confused the wildlife, the tourists, and honestly… itself.

When the birds start looking this irritated, you know the cold snap hit different. Beaches are empty, benches abandoned, and even the ocean looks offended. This isn’t the Florida postcard anyone ordered.

The good news? Florida cold never sticks around for long. The sun will be back, the birds will forgive us (eventually), and this will turn into one of those “remember when Florida got cold?” stories.

Until then, everyone, birds included, is just trying to survive the weekend. 🌴😅

This iguana refuses to fall from a tree! 🤣🦎

02/06/2026

At 7 o’clock in the morning, it’s 42° and feels like 37° in Naples. 🥶 Kind of chilly for us locals. Watch out for those falling iguanas if you’re heading out for a morning walk or run. 🦎😂

In Southwest Florida, invasive iguanas are known to freeze and sometimes fall out of trees during sudden cold snaps due to their biology as cold-blooded reptiles. Iguanas rely on external temperatures to regulate their body heat, so when the air temperature drops below around 50°F, their metabolism slows dramatically.

When temperatures start to dip into the 40s, their muscles become temporarily paralyzed, causing them to become immobile. This immobility can lead to iguanas losing their grip on branches and tumbling to the ground. Although it looks alarming, many of these iguanas revive and begin moving again once the temperatures rise and their bodies warm up. After enduring near-freezing temperatures for eight hours or longer, dormant iguanas start to die.

Here we go again! This is not a bad joke. Just when Florida starts feeling comfortable again, winter decides it wants a rematch. Another Arctic blast is rolling in, and temperatures are about to drop fast, especially overnight.

North Florida could wake up in the 20s, Central Florida isn’t far behind in the 30s, and even South Florida won’t escape the chill. It’s classic Florida weather whiplash: warm afternoons, then freezing mornings that have everyone scrambling to find jackets they swore they’d never need again.

This round means checking on pets, protecting plants, dripping faucets, and reminding ourselves that yes… this really is happening in the Sunshine State. Iguanas will be falling, heaters will be dusted off, and Floridians everywhere will once again question their life choices before sunrise.

Winter may not last long here, but when it shows up, it shows up loud. Florida vs. Winter — Round 2 is officially underway. 🥶🌴
