A tragic case of mistaken identity turned deadly when a cleaning lady was fatally shot in front of her husband after the couple accidentally arrived at the wrong home for a scheduled cleaning job.

According to authorities, the husband and wife pulled up to what they believed was their client’s house early Tuesday morning. The woman, described by family members as a hardworking mother of two, approached the front door with her cleaning supplies. Before she could even insert the key, the homeowner reportedly opened fire — believing they were confronting an intruder.

The woman’s husband screamed for help as she collapsed on the doorstep. Neighbors rushed out after hearing the gunshots, only to find the heartbreaking scene.

Police said the couple’s GPS directed them to the wrong address — a house just two streets away from their client’s home. Investigators are now reviewing security footage and interviewing the homeowner to determine whether the shooting will be treated as negligent homicide or self-defense under the state’s “castle doctrine” laws.

Friends described the victim as “kind, honest, and hardworking,” saying she often worked long hours cleaning homes to help support her family.

“She didn’t even get the key in the door,” one relative said tearfully. “They were just trying to make a living.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

🌞 What a Summer! 🌞

This summer has been incredibly busy, and I just want to take a moment to thank everyone who trusted Wicked Tidy Cleaning Company with their homes. 💙

From move-out cleanings for folks getting ready to sell, to Airbnb turnovers for amazing hosts, and deep cleans for my wonderful new regular clients, it’s been an honor to help so many of you get your spaces sparkling clean! ✨

We’ve been hard at work all over — Ligonier, Mt. Pleasant, Latrobe, Somerset, and Johnstown — and it wouldn’t have been possible without your calls, referrals, and continued support. 🙌

Even my “supervisor” 🐾 (pictured below) has been keeping me company after long cleaning days — his only job is to look cute and demand snacks, which he takes very seriously. 😹

Here’s to an even busier fall season ahead! 🍂
Thank you for keeping Wicked Tidy on the move. 💪

Drivers should remain alert for these slow-moving, two-lane operations and use alternate routes when possible. Traveling both the posted speed limit and slower as needed, superloads will occasionally pull over to allow traffic to pass. As always, PennDOT stresses extra caution in all work zones. Motorists should drive slowly, eliminate all distractions, and stay alert for direction from advanced signage.

Additionally, PennDOT reminds motorists that as of June 5, 2025, the "Paul Miller's Law" is in effect. This law prohibits the use of hand-held devices while driving, even while stopped temporarily due to traffic, a red light, or other momentary delay. Violation of this law is punishable by way of summary citations issued by any Pennsylvania Law Enforcement officer.
We strongly urge motorists to make safe choices, put phones out of reach and don’t text and drive.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.

✨ A beginner’s guide to cleaning your home✨

If you’re feeling stressed, discouraged, or unsure where to start, you’re not alone ❤️. A messy space can feel overwhelming — sometimes it’s hard to know what to do first, or even find the motivation when it all feels impossible.

But I promise, once you get started, it can be surprisingly therapeutic. 🫶 Making progress, piece by piece, brings a wonderful feeling of calm, control, and peace — and your home will feel that much more restful afterwards.
