We've had several customers over the past couple of weeks who were unaware of what a P-trap is and how important it is to have on your plumbing. So we thought we would share a post about it.
A P-trap is the curved section of pipe found under sinks and other drains. Its main job is to hold a small amount of water that acts as a barrier, preventing sewer gases and unpleasant odors and sewer flies from coming back into your home. It also helps catch small debris before it travels deeper into your plumbing.
P-traps should be installed on fixtures like:
Bathroom sinks
Kitchen sinks
Tubs and showers
Laundry drains
Floor drains
A properly installed P-trap is an important part of keeping your home’s plumbing system safe, sanitary, and functioning correctly.
