Hi there to our small Dallas audience here!
I thought this would be an appropriate place to share some of our trials, errors, challenges, and general storyline of trying to launch this uber for bathroom cleaning service. if our little entrepreneurial story doesn't interest you, just skip reading further!
We started taking action on this idea about a month ago, interviewing as many people as possible about their cleaning services or lack there of and identifying where the gaps in the market were. it became clear that these quick in and out bathroom cleans were greatly needed but companies can't realize a profit after coordination and travel time (or the price is too high for the end customers). We validated the need for this solution by running a quick facebook ad and received many email optins.
From there, we started recruiting 40 cleaners. going around to hotels, networking, affiliate referral programs, etc. Of the 40, we completed interviews with about 20 and tested out about 15 or so using friends as practice clients.
Of the 20, we had issues with about half of them in terms of reliability. Part of our issues with getting reliable cleaners is we just didn't have enough jobs back to back in close distances to keep them engaged and showcase the value this could have to them. Simultaneously, the more jobs we released to them the more scrambling we had to do to get a cleaner to show up.
We were facing the classic chicken or the egg problem that all early 2 sided marketplaces face. Eventually, after nearly calling it quits on the project, we decided to double down, hire cleaners by the hour on key days and pay them regardless if we had bathrooms to clean or not. Simultaneously, we ramped up our marketing on social media and that's where we are today.
We have per-job and hourly cleaners lined up for the next two weeks while we give this one last push and try to validate that this service could work for both parties (customers and cleaners). We also took on a big risk by changing the offer to 'pay after the service' with no re-scheduling or cancellation penalty to the customer.
If you have the need for this service, and you trust us enough to give this solution a try, and you want to see the more developed app solution in the future, please book a job with us this week by submitting the form in the link below!

PS. to get more reliability out of our cleaners we bumped up their pay and the price per 1.5 hr clean to $60. For a limited time only, give us a try at our launch price of $50 🙂
