Some pests aren’t really pests at all! 🐞Lady bugs are part of the beetle family with over 5000 different species. The lady bug is actually beneficial to gardens and some believe that if they land on you it’s good luck!! A group of lady bugs is called loveliness or blooms and use their color to warn predators like birds and frogs that they don’t taste good! Lol When the temperature drops they will hibernate and lay dormant with 1000’s of other ladybugs to stay warm!! Maybe one will land on you today and it will be your Lucky day!! ☺️

We get lots of calls because people see “Palmetto” bugs in the home. 🪳Palmetto bugs are very common in Florida due to their love of humidity, they typically live in mulched areas and in landscaping but when things get to wet they try to find drier ground and this is when we will see them inside! Some interesting facts are they can be up to 2 inches long and even longer if you count their long tentacles, Although both male and females have wings they prefer to just scurry on the ground . You will commonly see them in the bathroom and kitchen sink area or tub because they will come in from under your home through the pipes (in a mobile home or crawl space area) We recommend doing an under spray at least twice a year to avoid this and perimeter sprays quarterly to not only stop Palmetto bugs but many other tupes of pests as well!! If you called Shireman Pest Control in the month of June and left a voicemail (or several) and I never called you back I am so sorry!! 😩 People kept telling me they left VM”s and were quite annoyed with me for not returning their calls but I never got them!! I recently had an issue with my phone so I turned it off to reset it and when I turned it back on I had 35 VM’s dating back from June 2nd! 😱 I don’t know what happened as I was getting some VM’s but not others! (I think from what someone said it was going straight to VM not even ringing) I am working through them now to make sure I spoke to everyone since then but please know it was not intentional and I always try to get back to anyone who leaves a message the same day!! We appreciate your business and hopefully the problem is fixed!! ❤️

Ever see one of these bugs and think what the heck is that??? 🤔This is a Cicada also called a Dummer bug! They are known to be clumsy in flight by flying into windows and people (hence the dummer bug name) but did you know the male Cicada is the loudest insect in the world?? 😱 they can reach decibles as loud as a motorcylce or lawn mower! 🏍️They also live 2-17 years under ground and once they come out they shed there original shell and only live about 5 weeks! (Probably because they are dumb and are flying into windows) 🤦‍♀️ They eat sap from plants and trees and do not have ability to chew so they do not destroy your leaves and flowers ! Pretty harmless over all but when you hear them you will know!!
