The Seamstress/Tailor performs a variety of operational tasks to support the ex*****on of alterations in the store, including the hemming of jeans and pants.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
Perform quality alterations on merchandise at store location.

Operations:
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include mornings, evenings, and weekends. Sewing machine and supplies provided to perform alterations. Pin altering folds or mark on cloth at seam to indicate alterations in progress. Uphold specific productivity guidelines. Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work area and inform a Leader when additional supplies are needed.

Objective Qualifications

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Challenge 🇺🇸- The Veterans Cemetery (near Rocky Gap) was unable to put out flags this year. We went out this morning and placed 2 rows of flags. We're excited to share our newest member, Ray the Reliable Cleaner & Tailor!

Ray the Reliable Cleaner & Tailor is approaching its 110th-anniversary mark serving customers in the Queen City. Ray the Reliable Cleaner & Tailor provides dry cleaning services including garments that require special care. In addition to dry cleaning and laundry, the business includes alterations, which specializes in mending garments, hemming, taking in or out, and altering formal suits and dresses. Customers will always receive professional service, and orders will be completed on time. The business has three pieces of original equipment — an extractor, which is used to take out the solvent, a press to take out wrinkles, and a wooden dry cleaner. Established in 1910, the company has learned to adapt business operations while providing excellent customer service and satisfaction. During WWI and WWII, Ray the Reliable Cleaner & Tailor shifted operations to cleaning and mending military uniforms. In 1970 the dry-cleaning plant was located on Pennsylvania Avenue and closed. In 1978 Ray Beall took over the family business from his father, the late W. Raymond Beall. The cleaners employs one full-time seamstress who has been with the company for 25 years, and seasonal part-time staff members.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company launched “Rays Hope”, an initiative employing current staff members to making fabric masks and donating them to Fire Departments, Police Departments, EMS, Hospitals, and Long-Term Care Facilities.

Recently renovated, the cleaners still maintains its feel of nostalgia with the original neon sign hanging outside. Ray the Reliable Cleaner & Tailor is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., (301) 722-5410.
