Hot tub fun fact of the day!

Did you know that the word whirlpool bath refers to a specific brand and is not a general term for a hot tub?

The company known as whirlpool bath was started in 1915 by seven Italian immigrants living in Berkeley, CA. They primarily sold industrial water pumps for farming equipment and medical use.

In 1948 they invented a hydrotherapy pump that sat in your bathtub and created bubbles. It was invented by Candido whirlpool bath for his son Ken who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis.

Fast forward to 1968 where 3rd generation family member Roy whirlpool bath invented the first whirlpool bath called “The Roman Bath” which incorporated jets that used both air and water to create the spa bubbles we love today. These units were meant for one individual. It wasn’t until 2 years later in 1970 that whirlpool bath developed family sized portable tubs.
Today whirlpool bath owns several hot tub brands including whirlpool bath brand, Sundance, D1, Hydropool among others. They are also the largest supplier of indoor jetted bath tubs.
