Can't preach this enough!!!!

Yes...ice melt IS necessary for safety BUT overkill is NOT necessary.
Each pellet radiates out a certain distance to melt snow and ice.

It ruins floors and vacuums.

Also be mindful of the TYPE of ice melt you use. One of my contracts has had to replace sidewalk because the company they use for snow removal uses a kind that is hard on concrete.
