As the days start to get longer and warmer, we can start to see pool season coming! Don’t fall behind and make sure your pool is ready to go on the first hot days of summer.
To prepare for your opening follow these easy steps to make sure your opening goes with out a hitch!
1.) Make sure all leaves, debris and water are off the top of your cover. This step is crucial in making sure you are not adding extra work to your opening.
2.) When draining off cover make sure the cover pump or syphon are not resting on the cover directly. Winter covers are notorious for allowing pool water to be sucked through the cover. You can place a plastic plate, frisbee, or Tupperware cover underneath it.
3.) The best time to open your pool is when the outside temperature starts to stay above 65 degrees out. Warm stagnant water breeds algae and the longer it remains covered in temperatures over 65 the more algae can spread.
4.) You can never add too much Chlorine to a pool. The rule of thumb is 1lb or gallon of shock (chlorine) per 10k gallons if clear. Double it if it’s cloudy and triple is green.
5.) When in doubt ask for help! Most companies including Scuba Scott’s will try our best to help you out over the phone to save you money.
If you follow these tips you will be on your way to an easy pool opening.
If you do not want to do it on your own Scuba Scott’s will make sure it gets done fast and easy. Call us at (401) 465-7458.
