Tidy Homes Tip from Mariah - Cleaning Pots

Sometimes when cooking food gets caked on the bottom and if your like me your thinking "dang, how am I going to get that off without ruining the finish on my pot or oven dish" Here's the method I use: one let it soak for a bit with hot water. After soaking put a tap of Ajax in the pan you are trying to clean. The water will dissolve the powder but it will still have enough abrasion to use your kitchen sponge and clean your dish as if you never cooked in it. I myself do not buy Brillo pads, they scrap the finish right off your cook ware. This easy solution saves money and your pots!

If your jewelry (silver, gold, or platinum) looks dingy or dirty and you don't have jewelry cleaner here's a quick way to restore it. Whether it's earrings, rings, bracelets, or necklaces take toothpaste and a old toothbrush and scrub it for a few seconds and rinse, dry with a towel or cloth. I do not recommend the blue or other colored toothpaste but just regular white colored toothpaste you brush your teeth with. The same chemicals that can clean your teeth, break down the dirt and grim that cover your jewelry. I use this method often with my wedding ring and earrings. I'm constantly working with my hands and all the dirt, grime, and even paint sometimes gets stuck in the little crevices. My earrings get covered or caked with make-up if I have them on while applying. The old toothbrush and toothpaste method is my easy go to trick to make my jewelry look clean and new!
