❤️ EVERY DOOR HAS A STORY — AND THIS ONE IS VERY SPECIAL TO US. ❤️
Every door has a story to tell.
Some doors are simply doors. Some lead to houses, businesses, garages, or buildings. But every once in a while, you come across a door that carries a story that stays with you — a story about kindness, friendship, loss, love, and keeping a promise.
Today, I want to share one of those stories with our customers and everyone who follows our page.
Four seasons ago, what started as a simple, one-time snow plowing call turned into something that I never expected.
A granddaughter reached out because she was trying to help her grandparents. She needed someone to come plow their driveway.
We showed up, did the job, and that could have easily been the end of the story.
But it wasn't.
Instead, that one snow plowing call started a friendship between Cody and a wonderful little old lady with one of the biggest hearts I've ever met.
For the first two seasons, we decided to pick up the bill and provide her snow plowing completely free of charge. We weren't looking for anything in return. We weren't doing it for recognition. We simply wanted to help.
I will never forget the day we showed up and told her husband that we would continue taking care of their driveway and that they didn't have to worry about it.
Seeing the emotion on that man's face was something I'll never forget.
It was one of those moments when you realize that sometimes doing the right thing means far more than a paycheck ever could.
Sadly, not long after that, her husband passed away and went on to his next life, leaving behind the woman he had loved for so many, many years.
And that's where the promise became even more important.
We had made a promise to her husband.
So we kept it.
Year after year, we've continued showing up.
We've continued clearing her driveway.
We've continued checking on her.
And most importantly, we've continued letting her know that she is not alone.
Today, we stopped by for season number four to let her know that we're still here, we still care, and we still love her.
And I can tell you something — the joy that comes from this little lady is enough to bring tears to a young, hard-working man's eyes.
Those are the kind of tears that make you stop and think:
"Maybe I did something right in life."
I was always taught by my parents that not every job has to be about dollar signs.
Not every job needs to come with a reward.
Sometimes the reward is simply knowing that you helped somebody.
Sometimes the reward is a smile.
Sometimes it's a conversation.
Sometimes it's knowing that you made somebody's difficult day just a little bit easier.
And sometimes, it's simply showing up when somebody needs you.
This story says a lot about who we want to be as a business.
Our elders matter. ❤️
Taking care of the people who came before us matters.
Being there for someone who may not have anyone else to depend on matters.
She has our number, and we tell her from time to time:
"If you ever need anything, you call us. It doesn't matter what time of day or night it is, or what season it is. You call Cody, and Cody will be on his way."
That's what I believe a big-hearted business owner should do.
I absolutely love our customers, and being able to serve them in any way I can is one of the greatest parts of owning a business.
And there are little moments throughout the winter that make this story even more special.
We'll be out there late at night clearing her snow, and she'll wake up, look out the window, and wave at us.
That little wave puts a smile on our faces every single time.
And of course, we can't forget the homemade cookies and banana bread. ❤️
Those little things mean more than people realize.
This coming 2026–27 winter season marks season number four, and we get to continue the promise we made to her husband.
We get to continue showing up.
We get to continue putting a smile on her face.
And we get to continue making the winter just a little bit easier for a woman who has already been through one of life's hardest losses.
So, as a business owner — and more importantly, as a human being — I hope everyone reading this remembers one thing:
Not every job is about money.
Sometimes it's about love.
Sometimes it's about kindness.
Sometimes it's about compassion.
Sometimes it's about taking a few minutes to talk to somebody who might be lonely.
And sometimes it's about keeping a promise long after the person you made that promise to is gone.
This is one of those jobs that means more to us than words can explain.
To our special customer behind this door:
We are still here. ❤️
We still care.
And we will keep showing up.
