Memorial Day is a solemn American holiday dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women of the U.S. military who have died in service to their country. Observed on the last Monday of May, it originated after the Civil War as a way to commemorate fallen Union soldiers and has since evolved to recognize all military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice. Beyond its historical roots, Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder of the cost of freedom and the bravery of those who defend it. While many people mark the day with parades, ceremonies, and visits to cemeteries or memorials, it is also a time for reflection, gratitude, and unity across the nation.

Our hearts are broken this morning as we learn about an unthinkable tragedy in Burnsville this morning. Multiple police officers were shot resulting in two being killed. A Burnsville Fire medic was also killed. Please join us as we send our thoughts and prayers to the Burnsville Police Department, their families and their public safety community.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and to begin, we'd like to spotlight our Day One Program's 24/7 hotline lines and statewide network.

Cornerstone’s Day One Call Center hosts Minnesota’s 24/7 hotline that provides support for victim/survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. The Day One Program can be contacted via calling (1-866-223-1111), texting (612-399-995), or chatting (dayoneservices.org). Day One works very closely with agency partners all across the state to connect victim/survivors with support and resources.
