Texas spring storms can wreck pool equipment fast. Hail, wind, and debris can cause serious damage in minutes.

After any storm, take a quick walk to your equipment and check:

• Skimmer lids + baskets
Hail can crack lids and shatter baskets without you noticing.

• Pump cover
Cracks let water into the motor and lead to failure.

• Filter housing
Look for dents. Even small ones can turn into leaks under pressure.

• Pool lights
If you see water around a light, stay out of the pool. That’s an electrical risk.

• Debris in the skimmer
Yard debris can hit the impeller. If you hear grinding, shut it down immediately.

If anything looks off, don’t run the system. That’s how small damage turns into expensive repairs.

A quick check now can save you from a full equipment failure later.

We handle storm damage diagnostics and repairs across Conroe and The Woodlands.

Before everyone jumps in for that first real swim of the season, take 20 minutes and check these:

• Pump priming
If it’s been sitting all winter, air pockets can build up. A pump running dry can burn out the seal in about 15 minutes.

• Filter pressure baseline
Check your PSI today and remember it. That’s your clean baseline. Once it rises 8–10 PSI, it’s time to backwash or swap cartridges.

• Salt cell / chlorinator output
Run the system for 24 hours, then test chlorine levels. If you can’t hold 2–3 ppm at full output, your cell is likely at the end of its life.

A quick check now beats dealing with a broken pool on a holiday weekend.

We handle pumps, filters, and salt systems across Conroe and The Woodlands.

South Texas spa season is just getting started. Once nighttime temps drop into the 60s, your spa goes from "nice to have" to "used three nights a week."
Two things to check before you fire it up regularly:

Heater operation. If it hasn't run since spring, the gas valve and pilot can collect debris. Run it for a full cycle and listen for clean ignition.
Spa cover condition. A waterlogged or cracked cover can double your gas bill in a month.

If your heater clicks but won't fire, or your spa is taking longer than 30 to 45 minutes to come up to temp, something's off. That's a 30-minute service call, not a project.

Most homeowners think about pool remodeling in March, when they want it ready by May. By then, every pool company in Montgomery County is booked 8 to 12 weeks out.

Fall is the better play:

Cooler weather means crews work faster. No 100 degree heat delays.
Material lead times are shorter
You're in the water by spring with zero rush
Replaster and tile work cure better in moderate temps

If your plaster is rough, stained, or older than 10 years, or your tile is cracking, the next 60 days are the window. After Thanksgiving, scheduling tightens up again for spring.

Hurricane season runs through November in South Texas. Save this post before you need it.

If a named storm tracks toward Conroe, here's what to do with your pool — and what NOT to do.
Do:

Turn OFF the breaker to pool equipment before the storm hits
Add an extra dose of chlorine. Storm runoff brings contamination.
Leave pool furniture in the pool if you can't store it inside. The water protects it.

Don't:

Don't drain the pool. An empty pool can pop out of the ground from groundwater pressure.
Don't lower the water level more than 6 inches. The weight is what holds it in place.
Don't cover the pool. Wind turns covers into sails.

Save this. You'll want it when the next system enters the Gulf.

If your equipment takes a hit, we handle storm-damage repairs across Conroe and The Woodlands.

August heat plus pool parties plus a salt cell that's seen better days equals green water by Labor Day.Algae doesn't show up overnight. It builds when chlorine drops below 1 ppm, and the most common reason chlorine drops in late summer isn't a missed dose — it's failing equipment.Three things to check:

Salt cell. They lose output gradually. After 3 to 5 years, they can't keep up in peak heat even when they look fine.
Pump performance. If flow is weak, your chlorinator can't disperse properly.
Filter pressure. A dirty or worn filter cuts circulation and lets dead spots form.
If your chlorine readings have been low all month no matter what you add, the problem isn't your dosing — it's your equipment. We diagnose and repair salt systems, pumps, and filters across Conroe and The Woodlands.

There is no better way to understand what pool renovation actually does than seeing the same pool before and after. Faded plaster, stained tile, worn coping — and then the same pool with a deep pebble finish, updated waterline tile, and new travertine coping.

The water looks different. The deck looks different. The entire backyard looks different.

That is what Paradise Pool and Spa does across Conroe, The Woodlands, Benders Landing, Augusta Pines, Woodforest, and New Magnolia.

Standard white plaster typically lasts eight to twelve years depending on water chemistry, usage, and how well the pool was maintained.

Pebble aggregate and quartz finishes last longer — often fifteen to twenty years or more — and hold their color and texture far better over time.

Most homeowners in Conroe and The Woodlands do not know their finish has a lifespan until they start seeing the signs: rough texture underfoot, staining that does not respond to chemicals, or water that has started to look off.

If your pool is ten years or older and has never been replastered, it is worth a conversation. Paradise Pool and Spa handles replastering across Conroe, The Woodlands, Augusta Pines, and surrounding areas.

Deck jets are one of the most requested water feature additions in pool renovations right now — and it is easy to see why.

Thin arching streams of water shoot from the coping edge into the pool, catching light and adding movement without the bulk of a waterfall or the cost of a major feature installation.

They work on almost any existing pool and can be added as part of a broader renovation or on their own.

In The Woodlands and Conroe, homeowners are adding deck jets to pools that already have good bones but needed something to make the backyard feel intentional.

A renovated pool is one of the highest-return improvements you can make to a home in Conroe and The Woodlands market.

Buyers in this area expect pools. What they notice is whether the pool looks maintained and updated or like a project they will have to deal with after closing. New plaster, updated tile, fresh coping, and a clean deck signal a well-cared-for home.

For homeowners planning to sell in the next two to three years, pool renovation is not an expense — it is positioning.

And for homeowners staying put, it is a backyard you actually want to use every day.

Paradise Pool and Spa handles full renovations and targeted upgrades across Conroe, The Woodlands, Benders Landing, and Augusta Pines.
