Most caregivers cover strollers and car seats because they’re trying to protect their baby from the sun.

But in hot weather, covering baby gear with blankets, muslin cloths, or aftermarket covers can actually trap heat and reduce airflow, creating a greenhouse effect inside the seat or stroller.

And babies are far more vulnerable to heat than adults.

A child’s body temperature rises 3-5x faster than an adult’s. Heatstroke can happen quickly, especially in enclosed spaces with poor airflow.

Heatstroke is also the leading cause of non-crash vehicle-related deaths in children under 15. On average, 37 children die every year in the U.S. from pediatric vehicular heatstroke.

‼️ And overheating doesn’t only happen in cars. ‼️

Covered strollers and infant seats can become significantly hotter than the outside temperature, even with “lightweight” blankets or breathable fabrics.

Use your stroller or seat canopy, a stroller fan if you are able, and try to limit outside time when temps are high. If you must be outside, try to keep baby in a shaded spot, away from direct sunlight.

Heatstroke can escalate FAST, but awareness saves lives.

I heard you need help with your car seat installation… 👀 And honestly? Good. Because this stuff is confusing as hell sometimes.

One minute you’re reading the manual. The next minute you’re 14 TikToks deep at 3 AM while your car seat is sliding across the backseat and someone in the comments is telling you pool noodles are the answer. 😭 Spoiler alert, that’s not the case for all seats.
