Did you know that the way you collect your pool water sample can affect your test results and chemical recommendations?

At Quality Pools Inc., we believe accurate water testing is the foundation of proper pool maintenance.

And with cooler weather settling into Mississippi, understanding your pool’s chemistry is just as important as ever!

💧 5 TIPS FOR COLLECTING AN ACCURATE POOL WATER SAMPLE

1️⃣ DON’T SAMPLE FROM THE SURFACE!

Collect your water approximately 12–18 inches below the surface, away from skimmers and return jets.

This helps provide a more representative sample of your pool water.

2️⃣ USE A CLEAN CONTAINER!

Use a clean plastic bottle or dedicated water sample container.

Rinse it with pool water before collecting your sample.

⚠️ Never use a container that previously held pool chemicals or cleaning products!

3️⃣ MAKE SURE YOUR WATER IS CIRCULATING!

Whenever possible, allow your pump to circulate the water before collecting your sample.

This helps ensure the water is properly mixed.

4️⃣ DON’T SAMPLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER ADDING CHEMICALS!

Give chemicals sufficient time to dissolve and circulate according to their label instructions.

Sampling too soon can produce results that don’t accurately represent your entire pool.

As we begin another workweek here in Mississippi, it’s a great time to talk about one of the most important—and often overlooked—pieces of swimming pool equipment.

⚙️ YOUR POOL FILTER!

Your pump keeps water moving, but your filter is responsible for removing suspended debris and particles that can affect water clarity.

During the fall, leaves, dirt, pollen, and other debris can place additional demands on your filtration system.

A CLEAN FILTER DOESN’T JUST HELP YOUR WATER LOOK BETTER. IT HELPS YOUR ENTIRE CIRCULATION SYSTEM OPERATE MORE EFFECTIVELY!

🔧 5 THINGS EVERY POOL OWNER SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FILTER MAINTENANCE

1️⃣ KNOW YOUR FILTER’S NORMAL PRESSURE!

Every pool filtration system has its own normal operating pressure.

After cleaning your filter, record the pressure reading while the system is operating normally.

📏 QUALITY POOLS TIP: Many filter manufacturers recommend cleaning when pressure rises approximately 20–25% above the clean starting pressure. Always follow your specific manufacturer’s instructions.

2️⃣ HIGH PRESSURE CAN INDICATE A DIRTY FILTER!

As debris accumulates inside your filter, resistance to water flow can increase.

This may result in:

❌ Reduced circulation
❌ Poor skimming performance
❌ Decreased return-jet flow
❌ Increased pressure across the filter
❌ Additional strain on system operation

⚠️ High pressure can have several causes, so proper troubleshooting is important.

3️⃣ LOW PRESSURE DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN EVERYTHING IS FINE!
