Another old cleaning tip that still holds true; keep sponges and showers dry to prevent mold/mildew and smell. Ring out sponges after use and dry shower walls and ledges after use. This makes a huge difference and only takes a few seconds!

An old cleaning tip that i still stand by: One of my signature staple items that i always get compliments on is my homemade dusting spray. I use these tinted glass bottles that are safe for essential oils. I fill the bottle up with water, add 20 drops of Thieves and 20 drops of Tea Tree essential oils (as opposed to fragrance oil) and spray on my microfiber rags to dust any surface. It smells great, is not gunky like most products, and safe for anything. Just be sure to spray on the rag, not the surface.

This is a great product for keeping upholstery smelling fresh and disinfected! I actually got it from my Podiatrist because it is also good for the insides of shoes. It can also be purchased online though. Keeping upholstery, blankets, and bedding is really important anytime but especially if anyone in the household has been sick!

I haven’t done a post in a long time, but I thought my cleaning tips might be useful right now while everyone is quarantined at home and unable to have their cleaning services. This time at home would also be a great opportunity to do some spring cleaning! The main tip for cleaning at any time is to just keep up with it-don’t let things pile up or get to the point of dirtiness where you have to spend all day. A little up keep goes a long way! I still stand by these previous tips so look through them when you need cleaning inspiration!

An amendment to one of my earlier posts regarding paper towels... i still prefer Bounty or Brawny but in an effort to lessen my amount of waste i have switched to Simple Truth recycled paper towels. Might not seem relevant, but i figured i should adjust considering how many towels i use! I have cut that down over the years as much as possible, but there are just some things too gross to use my microfiber rags on and rags just don’t do a good job on mirrors. So i do still need the paper towels for those items. Anyway, i would highly recommend the Simple Truth recycled paper towels; they are strong, don’t leave lint, make me feel slightly better about the waste, and because they are Kroger’s brand i get coupons so the cost has been about the same.

Here is my cleaning kit...a lot, i know. But i love having everything i might need available for any cleaning situation! I have done posts on each individual item, but here it is all together. I carry Bounty or brawny paper towels (the off brands just leave lint and you have to use more of them to get the same absorption. So you're really not saving money or being more green), my organic dusting spray, the Swiffer dusting spray, Sprayway glass cleaner, Dawn/vinegar spray, Murphy's oil soap, plain vinegar, Liquid Gold, Resolve carpet cleaner, Clorox spray, a little Swiffer for blinds, a tall Swiffer for upper dusting, a lint brush, a grout brush, and a magic eraser. Not pictured, my separate bag of clean rags and an empty bag for dirty rags.

This spreadsheet is a follow up to my most recent post. This check list is an example of what i leave for my clients so they know what i have completed, especially for those who aren't home during the cleaning and for those who are every other week where i am rotating jobs. Monthly clients basically get everything checked off. I thought this concept might be helpful for those who are cleaning their own houses and is a more visual guideline of my last post.
