There is a FREEZE WARNING for the next few days then again over the weekend next weekend. If your pump is already set to run for 24 hours there is nothing that you need to do to prepare (however, you want to make sure any water features like waterfalls are running along with your returns so those lines don’t freeze).
If you have a waterfall on your pool, I would advise running the waterfall 24/7 along with your pump. Just open the valve for your waterfall enough for the water to arc out away from the stone wall and keep an eye on your water level so that it does not get too low while running.
*** please see our other recent post on how to reset your control unit if you have a power surge or your variable speed pump controller looses communication with your pump and stops running.
If you have a Jandy Variable Speed Pump that we installed when we built your pool or we have installed a freeze protection device for you then your pump will turn on automatically when the temperature drops. Just make sure to turn on your waterfalls if you have them to protect those lines from freezing as well.
If we have closed, covered and winterized your pool for you (meaning we unplugged and drained your pump and filter) you do not need to do anything else to prepare.
If you do not fall in to one of the above mentioned categories, please make sure that you run your pump overnight while the temperatures are below freezing. Running water will not freeze, but if it gets cold enough and the water is not running it can expand and bust the plumbing causing leaks (usually on the plumbing that is exposed and above the ground by your equipment).
Have a great night and stay warm!
