Mama’s Little Helpers is beginning a new tradition: a weekly helpful hint! Each week we’ll bring you tips to help keep your home happy in between cleanings. So here’s this week’s tip...

Most people know that their home’s furnace needs a filter change at regular intervals, but so many of us forget to do it. It not only helps keep your air cleaner, changing the filter regularly keeps dust, pet and human hair, and dirt out of your HVAC system. If you don’t have a clean furnace filter, that debris is sitting in your vents and gets blown into your rooms when your heat or a/c comes on. So even though we’ll get all the dust and hair off your furniture, countertops, and floors, without a clean furnace filter more of it will get deposited back onto the surfaces that were just cleaned.

Do yourself and your home a favor and set a reminder to replace your furnace filter every 30-90 days (depending upon which filter you use). You’ll notice a big difference!

“We moved into this house with a tile floor that I don’t particularly like. But what makes it so much worse is the grout. It’s supposed to be a tan/faded pink and it was BLACK. Years of dirt and grime collected in the grout lines and no matter what, the floor always looks dirty because of it. THANK YOU, Mama’s Little Helpers, for giving my kitchen floor the love and attention it so desperately needed! I still don’t love my floor (nothing anyone can do to change that), but at least I know I’m not walking on filth anymore!”
