🧹 3 Things Every New STR Cleaner Needs to Know Before Their First Turnover

If you're just getting into short-term rental cleaning, here's what nobody tells you upfront:

1. Document EVERYTHING. Take before and after photos of every single turnover. This protects you, builds your portfolio, and gives hosts confidence. Screenshot your checklists, track your supplies, and keep receipts.

2. Stock a car kit. Don't rely on hosts to have what you need. Keep a backup stash of trash bags, all-purpose cleaner, microfiber cloths, toilet bowl cleaner, and gloves in your trunk. You'll thank yourself.

3. Set boundaries on same-day turnovers. A 4-bedroom with a noon checkout and 3pm check-in is NOT a quick clean. Know your worth, communicate timelines clearly, and charge accordingly.

Here are the top 5 things I look for to ensure a Total Refresh:

1. The "Shadow" Dust 🕸️
Check the tops of picture frames and the blades of ceiling fans. Guests lying in bed have nothing to do but look up. If they see a dust "mohawk" on the fan blade, they immediately wonder what else was missed.

2. The Kitchen Sink Rim 🚰
You can scrub the basin, but that gunk that builds up where the metal sink meets the countertop? It’s a magnet for guest eyes. A quick pass with a toothpick or a stiff brush makes the whole kitchen feel brand new.

3. The "Leftover" Scents 🍳
