The reality of being a parent....
It's falling short of crisp carpet lines, yet absorbing an abundance of memories made.
It's traces of their imagination, games played, and laughter.
It's perpetual, robotic cleaning while nurturing a baby on your hip.
It's feeling overwhelmed with too many tabs open in your brain, and feeling aimless when there's a moment of rest.
It's sorting through emotions,
and keeping track of plans,
and scheduling appointments,
and paying bills,
and grocery shopping,
and preparing meals,
and school shopping,
and stories told,
and kissing boo-boos,
and offering hugs,
all while feeling physically and mentally exhausted.
Motherhood is amazing,
and then it's really hard,
and then it's everything in between.
One day, I'll get all the sleep I need,
One day, I'll have carpet lines and beautiful decor,
One day, I'll have the time to find my hobbies again.
For now, I'll appreciate the messes, the spills, the scattered toys, and the purest form of love that fills up my home.
Because one day, they'll be grown up.
They'll be out of the house more than in it.
They won't need me then like they do now.
And the time I have with them will stretch thin.
Although a clean and mess-free house is comforting, so is the laughter and love of my children, in this stage they are in.
