🌱☀️ Spring Lawn Watering Tips for Florida ☀️🌱

Spring is here, and that means your lawn is waking up and getting ready to thrive! But one of the most important things you can do this time of year is water correctly—too much or too little can both cause problems.

Here’s how to keep your lawn looking its best 👇

💧 Spring Watering Schedule (Florida):
• Water 1–2 days per week
• Aim for 30-45min per zone.
• Best time to water: early morning (4-8 AM)

🚫 Avoid watering at night—this can lead to fungus and disease issues

🌿 Helpful Lawn Tips for Spring:
✔️ Don’t overwater—your lawn doesn’t need as much water in spring as it does in summer
✔️ Look out for brown patches—could be insects like chinch bugs, not just dryness
✔️ Mow regularly, but don’t cut too short (this stresses your grass)
✔️ Keep an eye on weeds—spring is when they start to take off
✔️ If you have Bahia grass, remember weeds can be tough to control—fertilization and insect control are key

🌧️ And don’t forget—Florida weather can be unpredictable! If we’re getting regular rain, you may not need to water at all that week.

If your lawn isn’t looking like it should or you’re not sure what it needs, we’re here to help!

Pest of the Week: Baby Lubber Grasshoppers

Have you noticed small black grasshoppers with red, yellow, or orange markings hopping around your yard? These are baby lubber grasshoppers (nymphs)—and they can quickly turn into a much bigger problem.

During this early stage, they often travel in groups and begin feeding on plants, flowers, and landscaping. As they grow, their appetite increases, and so does the damage they can cause.

👉 Why this stage matters:
This is actually the best time to treat them. Baby lubbers are easier to control before they mature into large adult grasshoppers that are harder to manage.

👉 How we treat them:
At Orange Pest Control, we can apply treatments to target these young grasshoppers and reduce their numbers. The product works by eliminating the ones that come into contact with it during service.

⚠️ Important to know:
There is no guarantee that treatments will completely keep them away. Grasshoppers can continue to migrate in from neighboring yards, especially here in Florida.

✅ What we can do is help control the population early and protect your lawn and plants from heavy damage.

If you’re starting to see these baby grasshoppers, now is the time to act!
