polybutylene waterlines commonly leak just like this one and cause all sorts of problems for homeowners to deal with.

The problem with polybutylene waterlines is that they have a bad reaction to chemicals put into our water supply. Over time the chemicals cause the pipe to weaken and leak, and it is also very common for the fittings to crack. This is such an issue that the material was banned from being used on new construction houses in 1995

While they do make transition fittings to switch from Polybutylene to other better materials, the best solution is to completly remove it.
