Protect yourself from Unlicensed Installers.

There are multiple cases in multiple counties around the Houston area regarding unlicensed individuals illegally installing and repairing septic systems. Along with not permitting the system or installing a system before a permit has been issued.

These scams can result in failed county inspections after installation and serious financial loss for the customer.

Here’s what you should know.

Every septic installation requires a:
• Engineered septic design
• County/City permit (Before installing)
• Approved tank system
• Licensed installer for installation
(Aerobic or Conventional systems)
• County inspection after installing but before backfilling the system

License description:

• License begins with “OS” & have 9 digits
• Installer 1 license is for Conventional systems ONLY.
• Installer 2 license is for Aerobic and Conventional systems

How to avoid a scam.

• Clams you don’t need a design or permit.
• Ask them for their name and license number.
• Confirm their identity with the TCEQ OSSF license search online.
• Contact your county environmental office to verify their identity.
• They claim the owner must schedule the inspection after the installation.
