We know that bouclé upholstery, especially light-colored bouclé, is very popular, and we see it quite often in our clients’ homes. I know it really is a beautiful fabric. However, because we see what happens to these sofas after a year, two years, and beyond, we just want to make sure you’re aware of what to expect.
The main issue with this type of upholstery is that it can develop pilling fairly quickly from rubbing against clothing or a blanket that is regularly used on the sofa. Unfortunately, these pills cannot be safely removed from bouclé. A fabric shaver or pilling-removal machine can’t distinguish between the actual texture of the bouclé and the pills, so it can end up damaging or pulling out the fabric itself.
As a result, even after professional cleaning, these areas can sometimes still look darker or more worn.
We simply want to make sure that you, as our clients, are aware of this before making your decision. We’re not saying you shouldn’t choose bouclé - we just want you to know what can happen with this type of fabric over time ❤️
