Part of doing good work is having the right trade partners.

We’ve worked with Big O on multiple projects—painting garage doors for their jobs and bringing them in for a full door replacement for ours.

They’ve been consistent, professional, and easy to coordinate with. That matters.

If you’re looking for garage door work, they’re a company we trust to refer.

Glue-down flooring installed over new underlayment plywood.

When the original subfloor isn’t flat or smooth enough, we install underlayment first — then glue the flooring to that. It creates a solid, stable surface and helps prevent movement and noise later.

Floating floor or glue-down — which would you choose?

Cutting in at the ceiling isn’t about speed — it’s about control.

High wall lines, door headers, and tight transitions are where paint jobs either look sharp or slightly off. Straight lines up top require steady application, the right amount of material on the roller, and attention to how the ceiling texture meets the wall.

Most people notice the color change.
Professionals notice the lines.

It’s the small details at eye level — and above it — that separate an average paint job from a clean one.

That clean paint line everyone expects along baseboards? It depends on proper surface prep, correct adhesion, and pulling tape at the right time and angle.

If paint bridges from the trim to the tape and gets ripped off, you’re left with peeling, uneven edges, and extra touch-up work.

Small details like this are why prep, timing, and patience matter. Clean lines don’t happen by accident — they’re controlled from start to finish.

When outlet covers start taking on snow shelves…

Mid-to-late February in Iowa means one thing — just when you think winter’s about done, it reminds you it’s not.

If your driveway looks anything like this little overhang, we’re still out doing snow removal. Winter isn’t finished… and neither are we.

This is the original subfloor — and no, finished flooring shouldn’t go directly over it.

Before new flooring goes down, a proper underlayment plywood layer needs to be installed. That step creates a flat, stable surface and helps prevent movement, squeaks, and premature wear.

Skipping this part might save time up front, but it usually shows up later as soft spots, joint separation, or uneven floors.

Good flooring starts long before the finished material goes in.
The prep underneath is what determines how it performs years from now.
