Today I was reminiscing on how far I’ve come within my business.
The first cleaning under my business name, I underestimated the quote.
It was a 3200 sq ft home, that had idk how many animals in it, and was just huge.
I quoted $300.😭😭😭😭
The man was very concerned with my price at first until we met in person and I explained I just opened and just needed income to start flowing in.
Looking back now, I know this would be between $8-900+…
I spent 13 hrs cleaning this home..
The family paid $1800 cash.🥹
When he left it on the counter with a rubber band wrapped around it, I thought he had given all $20s and 10s because he hid it with a folded $10 bill on top. It was pretty thick looking. 🤣
I unfolded the money and it was nothing but $100s. I messaged him and said he had left too much money and his response was ‘you deserve it.’
I sat in the middle of the floor at the house and just cried.
I thanked him, I thanked God, and I thanked myself for continuing to push.
A week later…..
Same man reaches out; ‘Hey do you service Hopkinsville, Kentucky?’
I said yes and he sent his new home. It was 2800 sq ft.
I charged him the same $300 because the home was a historic home that has been sitting for a while in the middle of downtown Hopkinsville.
I finished 16 hrs later.
His wife and him come to do a walk thru and were at an awe.
He paid another $1800.
I stopped him in his tracks and I said ‘why such a large tip again?’
He said, ‘You don’t meet a lot of people who are honest, willing to do a job throughly and correctly very often but when you do; you show them appreciation.’
Till this day 4 years later, it has always stuck within my mind to always do someone the correct way.
Now have I made mistakes?
Sooo many times.
Have I upset customers and not met their standards?
Many, many times.
But it’s okay.
Those gains and failures makes every business and customer relation stronger.
If it wasn’t for that family and cleanings, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I’ve been blessed to meet amazing people who have taken care of my family, employees, plus what I offer to the community.
