🧺 **A Little Laundry Service PSA — From Something We Learned Ourselves**
We’ve seen more people offering laundry services lately, and first and foremost, we truly wish everyone success. 💙 Starting a small business takes courage, hard work, and a whole lot of learning along the way.
This post is NOT meant to tear down another business or discourage anyone from supporting small businesses.
We simply want to share something that **we had to learn ourselves** when building Lorene’s Wash House LLC — because we don't want a customer OR another small business owner to get burned by something they didn't know.
👉 **Not all business insurance is the same.**
When we started looking into insurance, we learned pretty quickly that properly insuring a laundry pickup and delivery business wasn't as simple as getting a general business policy and calling it good.
We had insurance companies turn us down because of the type of business we operate. We also encountered coverage that wouldn't properly cover everything involved in what we actually do.
That was an eye-opener for us.
Think about it: when you hand your laundry over to someone, you're handing over clothing, children's clothes, work uniforms, bedding, and other belongings that could easily be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
Then those belongings are being transported in a vehicle, taken to another location, processed, and transported back to you.
There are several points where something unexpected could happen.
That's why **Lorene’s Wash House LLC carries appropriate business insurance as well as vehicle coverage for our business operations.** 🛡️🚗🧺
We didn't know everything when we started. We've learned along the way, asked questions, made changes when necessary, and worked hard to make sure we're protecting both our business and the people who trust us.
And that's really why we're sharing this.
If you're hiring ANY pickup and delivery laundry service, don't be afraid to ask:
• Are you insured for the type of business you're operating?
• Does your coverage protect customers' belongings while they're in your care?
• Are you properly covered while transporting customer laundry?
• What happens if clothing is lost, damaged, stolen, or involved in an accident?
And if you're starting your own laundry business, **ask your insurance agent very specific questions about exactly what you do.** Don't automatically assume a basic policy covers everything.
We genuinely hope every legitimate small laundry business succeeds. There's enough laundry in this world for all of us. 😂🧺
We just don't want someone to learn an expensive lesson the hard way when a few questions beforehand could make all the difference.
