Pups are coming off the den and fawns are on the ground, remember one coyote averages 18 fawns a fawning season, let us help your deer herds have a better survival chance and I can almost guarantee you will have a better deer season as well as turkey season once predators start getting pressured and eliminated. Once predators are being taken out deer are also less pressured during season.

Tossing around an idea of starting to offer beaver trapping services. With the work and traveling everyday I would have to charge for this service though. Prices would vary depending on location due to travel time and gas but I was thinking within 10 miles from Isabella High School would be $100 set up fee and $100 per beaver. Then 10-20 miles $150 set up and $150 per beaver. This is a cheaper alternative in the long run for equipment rentals, or contracting equipment operators to fix drainage issues, tree damage or just rendering your property completely useless. Unfortunately I would not travel outside of Chilton County for this for the time being. Let me know your thoughts.

The sounds you are hearing are 2 live coyotes in a mating sequence. It’s hard to judge distance by the audio recording but standing on my back porch, they were danger close just inside the wood line, I would judge 50 yards at most. As you can see by the trampoline, swing set and basketball goal, this is where my child plays, and small dog runs around plays as well. Had he been outside at this time and they smelled him, guarantee they would have come running to attack as its an aggressive time of year and the male coyote would have been threatened by the scent of a male dog. If you are curious as to how we have learned what different sounds of coyotes sound like, we are not coyote whispers, we use premium sounds from MFK game calls that are recorded from live animals, so we pick up on different sounds, especially this one as we play it often this time of year, and I must say, it sounds almost identical to one of their breeding sounds. Unfortunately they ran the other direction when I tried to lure them out. Please be aware this time of year as it is dangerous for you, pets and livestock they don’t care about anything but eating, fighting over territory, and breeding this time of year.

With deer season quickly coming to an end we will begin getting back after coyotes hard again. We are still available to take on new properties, so if you or someone you know is needing some assistance with predator control feel free to reach out to us. Something to keep in mind is we do this at no cost as we are simply helping farmers and property owners protect their assets and keep animals and property safe. Coyotes will also wreak havoc on crops, especially fruits and melons.

This is also when coyotes are the most aggressive, yet limitations by the state limits night hunting for them during deer season, unless you pay an extra fee that I won’t get started on. But hunting pressure and elimination throughout the year pushes them away. This is the season where they are driven by 2 things, feeding and breeding.

Breeding Season… What are your thoughts on timing? Do they all follow the same monoestrous cycle or do you believe the timing can be different? East v. West? North v. South?

Just something to keep in mind, if you are managing deer by letting smaller bucks grow, limiting does, etc., but are not actively hunting coyotes or taking advantage of groups like this one to hunt them down, you are missing out. Feel free to see the previous post about deer populations growing due to a decrease in predator populations, also less predators on the property create somewhat a sanctuary for deer where they are naturally less pressured. Fawning season here in Alabama also occurs during this denning season.

Two murder hounds in 2 nights, minimal calling on the male Friday and no calling on the female tonight. Families are off dens and breaking up now and activity is on the rise and they will start getting closer to residences like these two, both were less than 200 yards from a house with small dogs and livestock all these things know is kill, eat, sleep, breed and repeat.
