FDOT Central Panhandle Traffic Advisory
CHIPLEY, Fla. – Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Central Panhandle area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Bay County:
• U.S. 231 Intersection Improvement at Star Avenue/Titus Road – Titus Road is temporarily closed at the U.S. 231 intersection. The closure is required for the reconstruction and realignment of Titus Road and to construct a new bridge. Drivers should detour via U.S. 231, State Road (S.R.) 390 and Titus Road. Detour signs are in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone. The temporary closure of Titus Road at U.S. 231 is expected to be in place through late 2026.
• U.S. 231 (S.R. 75)/23rd Street (S.R. 368) Resurfacing Project – Westbound 23rd Street drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures from U.S. 231 to Harrison Avenue Sunday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for construction activities. In addition, drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures on Beck Avenue Sunday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for milling activities.
• S.R. 390 Widening from 23rd Street to Baldwin Road – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures on Beck Avenue between 23rd Street and 21st Court Sunday, Aug. 2 through Friday, Aug. 7 from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will be paving the roadway.
• DuPont Bridge Replacement Project- U.S. 98 drivers will encounter periodic east and westbound outside lane closures from Oak Shore Drive to Bonita Bay Drive Sunday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 6 from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. for widening and drainage work.
• U.S. 98 Widening Project – U.S. 98 drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures at the following locations:
• Mandy Lane to Nautilus Street, Sunday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for striping operations.
• Nautilus Street to Richard Jackson Boulevard Monday, Aug. 3 through Thursday, Aug. 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for barrier wall placement and paving activities.
• Richard Jackson Boulevard to Chip Seal Parkway, Sunday, Aug. 2 through Thursday, Aug. 6 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for temporary asphalt placement.
Holmes County:
• U.S. 90 and S.R. 79 Bonifay Resurfacing Project – U.S. 90 drivers will encounter periodic intermittent lane closures from Banfill Avenue to Depot Street Sunday, Aug. 2 through Saturday, Aug. 8 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for paving operations.
• S.R. 79 Roadway Reconstruction Project in New Hope – Drivers will encounter periodic lane closures and traffic stoppages Monday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 7 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as crews perform construction activities. Signage and traffic flaggers will be in place to safely direct drivers through the work zone.
Jackson County:
• S.R. 2 Resurfacing from S.R. 77 to west of Spring Branch Bridge – Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for paving operations.
Washington County:
• Interstate 10 (I-10) Bridge Rehabilitation over Pate Pond Road (Exit 104) – Drivers will encounter westbound lane closures the overpass, Monday, Aug. 3 through Friday, Aug. 7 from 6a a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving operation.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to pay attention to the reduced speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
