Standing water on a flat roof isn't always a problem, but how long it stays there matters. 💧🏢

Flat roofs are designed with drainage in mind, but low spots, clogged drains, or inadequate slope can sometimes cause water to collect.

So when should you be concerned?
A commonly used guideline in commercial roofing is 48 hours. If water is still sitting on your roof more than 48 hours after rainfall has stopped, under normal drying conditions, it's worth investigating.

Persistent ponding water can contribute to:
💧 Premature deterioration of certain roofing materials
🔧 Additional stress on seams and vulnerable areas
🏢 Increased risk of leaks if the roofing membrane is compromised

Not every puddle indicates a serious issue, and different roofing systems handle standing water differently. But if the same areas consistently hold water for days, having the roof and drainage system evaluated is a smart move.

That area is called a roof valley, and it plays an important role in directing rainwater off your roof.

Because valleys collect runoff from two roof slopes, they often handle more water than other areas. They're also natural collection points for leaves, twigs, and other debris.
That's why proper installation, waterproofing, and keeping these areas clear are especially important.

Ever notice that the siding on a house looks wavy or uneven? 🏠

It's a fairly common issue with vinyl siding, and there are several reasons it can happen.

🔨 Improper installation: Vinyl siding needs room to expand and contract. If panels are fastened too tightly, they can buckle or ripple.
🌡️ Temperature changes: Vinyl naturally expands in warm weather and contracts when temperatures drop. If that movement is restricted, waviness can become more noticeable.
☀️ Warped panels: Excessive heat, sometimes from sunlight reflecting off nearby windows, can cause siding to distort.
🏡 Underlying wall issues: Uneven sheathing or framing can affect how siding sits against the home.

Some minor waviness can simply be more noticeable in certain lighting. But if panels are visibly buckling, pulling away, or becoming increasingly distorted, it's worth having them checked.

Your roof is more than shingles. Proper ventilation plays an important role in how the entire roofing system performs.

A well-designed ventilation system allows outside air to enter through intake vents while warmer air exits near the peak of the roof. That continuous airflow helps manage two things that can cause problems in an attic: heat and moisture.

And simply having vents isn't always enough. Intake and exhaust need to work together to create balanced airflow.
