While I love alllllll things cleaning, restoration cleans on antiques are reallllllly my favorite! My bread and butter if you will. I recently started cleaning a house from the mid 1800s and all I can say is that maybe I can die there so I never have to leave! Its like 4500ftยฒ (there's been additions) of pure heaven for my inner granny. Fun fact she worked at the high school my biological mother went to in the 80s ๐คฃ When I first walked the house with her I said it'll easily take 20 maybe even upwards of 40 if we reaaallllllly do it all, and she green lit a full blown restoration clean! This is so much fun. So far I'm averaging 2 hours per room to clean and prep all the furniture, move it to clean under, clean the floor, wash all the trim, wash the windows, descale all of the 1860s marble sinks *Oh. Em. Gee. Im. In. Love* clean all the trinkets, clean the lights, and polish all the dry furniture with beeswax to get the shine back.
It. Is. So. Much. Work.
But I love it. Its literally restoring Chico's history one cleaning at a time. I spent 6 hours there today doing 2 bedrooms and a 20' hallway- mostly sitting on the ground cleaning furniture- and here's one of the bedrooms I did. We are taking down all the lace curtains, washing all the linens and pressure washing the rugs so everything is perfect when it goes back together. Mr Jason has been trying to get me to do the cover of Upgraded Living for yearrrsss and I've never had an idea of what to talk about because to me this is all standard procedure, but now I know lol I just have to talk N into it ๐คฃ Although, to be honest I dont know if it would take much convincing. We'll see how long it takes me to get it all deep cleaned lol its so big I might die first.
What do you think? Do you want to see one of Chico's oldest houses in Upgraded Living?
