🔊Door Yard Burning will officially close in the City of Redding on Friday, May 15, 2026. While door-yard burning had been extended into early May due to wet spring conditions and cooler weather, a shift to a warmer, drier weather pattern and reduced soil and grass moisture have prompted the Redding Fire Department to discontinue door-yard burning.

Effective Friday, May 15, 2026, at 8 am, all burning within Redding city limits will be suspended until further notice. Current weather conditions no longer support safe open-burning conditions. If you still have vegetative debris to eliminate, here are some options:

▪️Utilize your green waste bin. The vegetative materials will need to be cut into pieces no longer than 3.5 feet and no larger than 4” in diameter.

▪️The City of Redding Transfer Station, located at 2255 Abernathy Lane in Redding, will accept vegetative debris for a fee. Visit www.cityofredding.gov or call 530-225-6201 for additional information.

▪️The West Central Landfill, located at 14095 Clear Creek Road in Igo, and the Waste Management Anderson Landfill, located at 18703 Cambridge Road in Anderson, will take vegetative debris for a fee.

▪️Contact a vegetation reduction contractor. The Redding Fire Department does not endorse any particular contractor.

Defensible space is a must for residents of Redding and Shasta County. For information on defensible space and the Home Ignition Zone (HIZ), please visit www.readyforwildfire.org or contact the Redding Fire Department at [email protected] or by calling (530) 225-4141.

For updates and additional information, visit https://cityofredding.gov/government/departments/fire_department/index.php, and follow the Redding Fire Department at and the City of Redding at on social media channels.
