The Town of Warner, NH reached out to us through a referral from Banks Chevrolet regarding a fleet of vehicles impacted by smoke and soot damage after a fire at the town shed facility.
Upon arrival, we were informed that a mobile detailing company had already attempted to clean the vehicles prior to our inspection.
After a full evaluation of the 12+ vehicle fleet, it was clear the previous work fell well short of what was required. Harmful soot and smoke contaminants were still actively circulating through the HVAC systems, posing ongoing health risks to the town’s employees.
Working closely with the town’s Select Board, a third-party appraiser, and the Road Agent, we helped coordinate a plan of action. Due to the severity of contamination, more than half of the fleet required full interior replacement to ensure safety and compliance.
For the vehicles deemed salvageable, we implemented a strict remediation process.
This 2018 GMC underwent a complete interior removal. Every trim panel, front to back, was treated with enzyme cleaners, thoroughly degreased, and properly dressed. All exposed metal surfaces were degreased and disinfected to eliminate any remaining particulate contamination.
The HVAC system was fully scoped, cleaned, steamed, and treated with enzyme solutions to neutralize embedded toxins. A new cabin air filter was installed, and the vehicle underwent a 24-hour ozone treatment to fully eliminate any lingering odors or airborne contaminants before reassembly.
When it comes to smoke and soot damage, surface-level cleaning isn’t enough. Proper remediation is the difference between a vehicle that looks clean—and one that is truly safe.
Here is the before and after photos. Now off to Banks to have some finish interior pieces and headliner installed once that is completed it will then be returned to the town and put back into service.
