🦟 Most people think mosquitoes live in the grass. They don't.

Mosquitoes spend most of the day hiding in cool, shaded areas like trees, shrubs, mulch beds, and under decks. If tiny bugs are flying up from your lawn and biting your ankles, there's a good chance you're dealing with no see ums, not mosquitoes.

The best way to reduce mosquitoes is to eliminate standing water, keep vegetation trimmed, and treat the areas where mosquitoes actually rest.

🐝 A Day on a Roof with BiteGuard Mosquito & Pest!

You might be wondering why I’m spending my day on a roof… and the answer is carpenter bees.

These bees found their way behind the siding and started drilling into untreated wood on the backside, creating tunnels where they can lay their eggs. While carpenter bees are important pollinators, they can cause significant damage when they nest in homes, sheds, decks, and other wooden structures.

A single female carpenter bee can create multiple chambers inside a tunnel and lay eggs that develop into the next generation of wood-boring bees. Left untreated, those galleries can continue to expand year after year.

Today, we’re treating this area before the problem gets out of hand and causes more costly repairs down the road. Early detection and treatment can make all the difference when it comes to protecting your home.

🚨 Mosquito Hotspot Found 🚨

While treating a customer’s property for heavy mosquito activity, we found this old rainwater harvesting drum filled with leaf debris and stagnant water that had likely been sitting for months. Perfect breeding conditions for mosquitoes. 🦟

To stop the cycle, we treated it with:
✔️ Mosquito Dunks to target larvae
✔️ Altosid IGR to prevent mosquitoes from developing into biting adults

💡 Important Tip:
Any standing water, even hidden containers like old drums, buckets, or clogged items, can produce hundreds of mosquitoes fast. Regularly dump, clean, or treat water sources around your property to help keep mosquito populations under control.

😂 Also, while we were filming this, the ice cream truck rolled through the neighborhood with the music absolutely BLASTING. Nothing says mosquito inspection quite like investigating stagnant water to the soundtrack of childhood memories. 🍦🦟
