🛞 On full ceramic coating packages, the wheels come off. It's more work but the difference in result is significant at every step of the process.

We mount each wheel on a Poka Premium wheel stand which lets us rotate the wheel freely and access every angle without awkward positioning. 🔬 Cleaning the barrel properly, polishing the face and spokes evenly, and applying ceramic coating in clean consistent passes all become significantly easier and more thorough when the wheel is off the car and sitting at the right height. What looks like a clean wheel from the outside often has years of packed brake dust in the barrel that you simply can't reach effectively with the wheel still on.

That barrel contamination is worth talking about specifically. ⚠️ Brake dust heats up through repeated braking cycles and when it sits on the wheel surface long enough it bakes into the paint. Over time that baked-in contamination weakens the paint from underneath and eventually causes it to crack and peel. It's not just an aesthetic issue. A properly cleaned and ceramic coated barrel is protected from that cycle going forward, making every future wash easier and extending the life of the wheel finish significantly.

With the wheels off we also get full access to the calipers. 🔴 On vehicles equipped with Brembos or any big brake kit, we ceramic coat the calipers too. Brake dust doesn't just affect wheels, it bakes onto caliper surfaces through the same heat cycles and is notoriously difficult to clean once it sets in. A ceramic coating on the caliper creates a barrier that prevents that bonding and makes brake dust wipe off cleanly rather than requiring aggressive scrubbing that can damage the finish over time.

🪟 Glass always goes last, on both the interior and exterior, and the reason is different for each.

On the interior, plastic cleaners, leather conditioners, and dressings all produce some level of residue or overspray as you work through the cabin. 🔬 If you clean the glass first, that residue lands on it and you're cleaning it again anyway. Glass cleaner on the other hand doesn't leave marks on surrounding plastics or trim with a little overspray, so doing glass last means one clean pass and you're done.

On the exterior, glass is significantly harder to scratch than paint. ✅ Even if we're on a slightly more used section of sponge by the time we get to the windows, it's not going to cause the damage it would on clear coat. We also occasionally follow up with Sprayway and/or Cerium Oxide polish on exterior glass before applying Rain X or any glass ceramic coating, to make absolutely sure the surface is completely clean and free of any residue before protection goes on. Order of operations matters at every step of a professional detail.

🌫️ Interior cleaners like Pink Power, Malco, and 3D's lineup are excellent products and we use them regularly. But steam does something a chemical cleaner alone simply can't. The high temperature v***r penetrates into the pores of fabric, leather, and plastic to break down bacteria, odor-causing compounds, and deeply embedded grime at a molecular level. A cleaner lifts what's on the surface. Steam gets what's underneath it.

The heat is what makes the difference. 🔬 Steam sanitizes as it cleans, killing bacteria and allergens that chemical cleaners only displace. On leather it opens up the pores for a much deeper clean before conditioning goes on. Door plastics and dash surfaces come out looking factory fresh without the need for excessive product. And on fabric seats and carpet it loosens embedded grime and staining in a way that makes the extraction step significantly more effective.

CAREFUL ON HEADLINERS. ⚠️ Too much moisture or heat and you risk delaminating the fabric from the backing, which is an expensive fix. 🫧 A foam cannon isn't just for aesthetics, even though it looks incredible. The thick foam that clings to your paint is doing real chemical work before a single sponge touches the surface. The surfactants in the foam need dwell time on the paint to break the bond between contamination and your clear coat. A regular hose rinse or bucket wash gives you almost zero dwell time. Foam gives you several minutes of active cleaning before contact.

Here's what most people don't realize: we run 4 dedicated foam cannons, each loaded with a different Koch Chemie product for a different purpose. 🔬

1️⃣ Koch Chemie MS: heavy duty pre-wash for vehicles that are heavily contaminated or haven't been maintained in a while

🧴 After your car is washed and rinsed, it can still feel rough to the touch even when it looks clean. That texture is bonded contamination, industrial fallout, tree sap residue, and embedded particles that soap and water simply can't lift. A clay bar is the only way to mechanically remove that layer without machine polishing. The difference before and after is immediate. A properly clayed panel feels like glass compared to what it felt like before.

We also use clay bar on wheels, and the results there can be even more dramatic. 🛞 Caked on brake dust and grime that survives a full wheel cleaning pass gets pulled out by the clay in a way that brushes and chemicals alone can't achieve. Our go-to sequence is iron remover first to chemically release the embedded ferrous particles, then clay bar immediately after to mechanically lift everything that got loosened. The two steps together leave a surface that's genuinely clean at a level most people have never felt on their own wheels.

⚠️ Clay bar alone addresses surface contamination, not paint defects. If your paint has heavy swirl marks, deep scratches, or oxidation, a multi-step paint correction or even wet sanding may be needed to truly achieve that glass-like finish. Clay bar gets the surface clean. Correction gets it smooth. Both matter.
