Gregory Gale Richards
“The Vac Man”
1945 - 2025

Gregory Gale Richards, 79, of Centralia, Washington, passed away January 19, 2025. He was born December 18, 1945, at Harris Memorial Hospital to Gale G. Richards and Janice E. Miller.

Greg graduated from South Kitsap High School in Belfair, Washington, in 1964 and attended Olympic College soon after. He began working at the Bangor Military Base loading ammunition in 1963. In 1965, Greg joined the U.S. Army and served honorably until his discharge in 1966.

Greg had a natural talent for sales and held various positions throughout his career. He got his start in the vacuum business, which led to opportunities at stores in Lakewood (1973), Tacoma’s 38th Street location (1982), and the Kent Corporation from 1983 to 1986. He also worked for Prudential Insurance in Tacoma. In 1986, Greg became the proud owner and operator of Cen-Che Vacuum in Centralia, Washington, where he served the community for many years. He soon after moved from Tacoma to Centralia.

On December 23, 1986, Greg married Joanne F. Richards in Tacoma, Washington. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared passions. Greg enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, watching movies, attending car shows, "space cruising," smoking ci******es, drinking coffee, and cheering on his favorite football teams every Sunday. His undying love for all animals and nature will never be forgotten.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Gale Gerald Richards and Janice Elizabeth Richards.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; his children Cheryl, Michelle, Trina, Jaysen, Erika, and Christopher and Alex; and 13 grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to McFiler’s, Sticklin Funeral Chapel, Scatter Creek Nursery, and everyone who offered support during this difficult time.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at McFiler’s Theater, 558 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis, WA 98532. A potluck reception will follow.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
