Did you know this about aprons?

-The word "apron" comes from the Old French word naperon, which means "small tablecloth" or "napkin".

-In the 12th century, men wore aprons for hygiene and protection.

-In the 14th century, people began wearing dark-colored aprons tied at the waist.

-In the 16th and 17th centuries, the color of an apron could indicate the wearer's trade. For example, English barbers wore checked aprons.

-In the 1700s, "pinner aprons" became common, which later became known as pinafores. These aprons tied at the waist with a bib pinned near the shoulders.

-Aprons fell out of fashion at home in the 1960s, but became part of work uniforms.

-The increase of celebrity chefs wearing aprons on TV cooking shows has made wearing an apron cool again.
