A: YES! Any fireplace – no matter the type of appliance or the fuel used – needs to be inspected annually and swept regularly. Plus, gas systems can get buildup from the water vapors that exit the home which can cause major problems.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) says that chimneys, fireplaces, and vents should be inspected by a professional, certified sweep at least annually – but that doesn’t mean that you should put it off!
