And this is why we always inspect the vent before we clean. Bird nests in your dryer vent damage your dryer, the duct, and put your home at risk of fire. While we must remove the nest, we also take great care to make sure the birds are out of the vent before sending in equipment that may harm them. This little guy wasn’t happy to be relocated, but we did so safely before cleaning the duct and adding a much needed pest guard.

Get those kinks out! Over time as we open and close our dryers, they often slide back a little. Over time that causes your dryer hose to become crimped, cracked, or even disconnected. When this happens, lint builds up in the most dangerous place possible, inside your dryer. Routinely look behind your dryer to make sure the hose is connected properly and not crimped or split. The worst culprits of this are the overpriced semi-rigid hoses that so many appliance stores try to upsell us. A traditional flexible foil hose conforms to stress and air flow much better, and can be trimmed to length to minimize loops and crimps.
