In the ebb and flow of life, where days are sometimes kissed with joy and others shrouded in sorrow, the notion of "blessing the Lord" often finds its rhythm. Yet it's in the constancy of praise, in the midst of swirling tempests and under tranquil skies alike, where our souls are truly tested. Picture the landscape of your life: the loss of cherished ones, the tightening grip of finances, the weight of societal demands, the shadow of illness, etc.Amidst these, how does one continually adorn the Lord with praises?
As I pondered these questions, nestled within the verses of Psalm 34, two beacons of light emerged: boasting and magnifying. These were not mere words; they were the pulse of a heart resolute in its devotion to God, even as the world crumbled. David, whose life read like a tapestry of triumphs & tragedies, was no stranger to adversity. Yet, as he fled from King Saul's wrath, he crafted this psalm, not from a place of denial but as a testament to divine deliverance. Our lives, much like David's, are cluttered with potential idols—accomplishments, relationships, status—all vying for the crown of our pride. Yet, they are transient and flawed, unlike the unwavering perfection of our Creator. To bless the Lord "at all times" is to shift our gaze from the impermanent to the Infinite, to see every circumstance through the lens of His steadfast love, grace, mercy, omnipotence, & holiness. This alignment with the eternal nature of God is what fuels our endless adoration.
Heavenly Father, in the midst of life's storms & stillness, anchor my heart in Your unchanging character. When the waves of uncertainty rise, let Your faithfulness be the lighthouse guiding me back to serenity. Teach me to see every moment as an opportunity to magnify Your name, for Your love is my refuge, Your grace my strength, and Your presence my ceaseless comfort. In the sacred name of Jesus, I lay my prayers at Your feet, finding solace in the promise of Your perpetual embrace. Amen.

Today is Easter…
and something in me
doesn’t want to rush past that

Because we say it so quickly

He is risen

and move on

But do you understand
what that means?

That means

the body
that hung on a cross

the lungs
that stopped breathing

the heart
that was pierced

started again

Not symbolically

Literally

He was dead

and then—

He wasn’t

And I can’t stop thinking
about the stillness of that tomb

How dark it must have been
How final it must have felt

How death had never
lost before

Every other body
that entered a grave

stayed

Every other story
that ended in death

ended

Until Him

Until Jesus

Because death
met something it had never met before

A Savior
who didn’t just die

but had the authority
to take His life back

And I wonder
what it sounded like

when breath filled His lungs again

When silence broke

When the grave
realized
it couldn’t keep Him

Because the stone
wasn’t rolled away
so He could get out

It was rolled away
so we could see

See that death
does not have the final word

See that sin
does not have the final word

See that your story
does not end
in the grave

Because if Jesus
walked out

then nothing
is too far gone

Not your past
Not your mistakes
Not the things you’ve buried
and tried to move on from

Not even the parts of you
that feel completely dead

Because this is what Easter means

It means death
is defeated

It means hope
is not fragile

It means darkness
doesn’t win

It means God
is not finished

And if He can step into a grave
and walk out alive

then He can step into your life
and do the same

So today—

don’t just say
He is risen

Feel it

Let it shake you

Let it confront you

Let it change you

Because Jesus

is not in the grave

He is alive

And that

changes everything 🤍

Day 7: The Tomb is Secured 🪨

A massive stone was rolled in front of Jesus' tomb, a seal was placed on it, and guards were posted to watch over it. To the rest of the world, it looked like the end.

Reflection: We all face "Saturdays" - those seasons where life feels quiet, dark, or like a door has been firmly shut. Today, sit with the truth that when things look motionless, God is always at work. Where in your life are you waiting for a "stone" to be moved, and how can you trust Him today?

Day 6 (Part 2): The Crucifixion ✝️

Jesus endured the physical pain of the cross and the weight of our sin, not because He had to, but because He chose to. With His final breath, He opened a door between us and God that can never be shut again.

Reflection: It's hard to wrap our minds around a love this deep - one that chose to suffer so we wouldn't have to be alone. You are worth so much to Him. How does knowing you are loved this much change how you feel about your life today?

Day 6 (Part 1): Jesus' Trial ⚖️

Jesus stood in silence before His accusers, enduring a trial defined by mockery and injustice. Despite the false testimony, He remained steadfast, submitting to the Father's will even as the shadow of the cross loomed ahead.

Reflection: It's staggering to consider the quiet strength Jesus displayed in the face of such unfairness. The King of Kings allowed Himself to be judged by the very people He came to save. How does seeing His selfless restraint & humility change the way you worship Him today?

Day 5: The Passover Meal 🍞

During their final meal together, Jesus took the bread and the cup, giving them a new and profound meaning. He refocused the ancient Passover tradition onto His own body and blood, offered as a new covenant for the forgiveness of sins.

Reflection: When we reflect on this event and take communion, we remember the new life Jesus promised is available to us because of His sacrifice. How can you live today in the light of that grace?
