Even paper white carpet will clean up great if it’s made of nylon. This carpet is over 10 years old.

This is how much dirt we were able to get out of one 5x7 wool rug. Wool can hold a lot of dirt without showing it. Unlike synthetic fibers, wool has cuticles (the fibers are not smooth), and dirt gets trapped in them.
If you have a wool rug, consider having it cleaned. Even though it may not look very dirty, the hidden dirt will act like sandpaper to the fibers and wear it out more quickly.
